CNC Machine

There is still a bit to go with this project, but I’ve made heaps of progress and I was too excited not too share. The aim is to add a more versatile tool head and maybe even some safety features or a vacuum so I can use it more freely.

I’ve used it already a number of times (not to cut… but to draw!). I’m hoping to have it finished in the next couple weeks to get a part 2 out! The project is mostly in its final touches.

This project was inspired by V1 Engineering’s design, which is a detailed, open-source project with guides and tutorials available to the public. You can find more details here.

In this build, most of the electrical components (motors and control board) were taken from old projects/ devices I had lying around. The main body of the machine was made from 3D printed parts. Hopefully at the end the machine should be capable of being used as a milling machine, 3D router, 3D printer, and laser engraver/cutter. Let’s see how it goes!

Below are some of the photos of the build along the way :)
